About our Home

Housed in a historic church structure built in 1895, Curious' space originally served as the Swedish Evangelical Free Church, later becoming the home of The Upper Room United Pentecostal Church through 1995. The facility has an auditorium divided between an orchestra level and an opera-style balcony, outfitted with brand new seats (as of April, 2008!). The 1,000-square foot stage has a permanent Elizabethan-style second-level gallery, and the auditorium has been outfitted with a new grid structure to accommodate sophisticated lighting and sound instrumentation and a permanent film screen.

In addition to the auditorium, Curious has a box office/lobby area with exhibit space, a dressing room, a scenery and prop workshop, a “green room’, and a full commercial kitchen, gallery and reception room called “Mamie’s” -- named for Mamie Eisenhower, who is said to have attended church in the building when it was the Swedish Evangelical Free Church.
